Peter's Flowing Stream

Oh, I went to Peter’s flowing stream
Where the water’s so good
And I heard there the cuckoo
As he sang from the wood.

Chorus: Hold-di-ah....
Hold-di-ra kiki, a hol-di rah cuckoo (cuckoo) (snap fingers too)
Hold-di-ra kiki, a hol-di rah cuckoo (cuckoo)
Hold-di-ra kiki, a hol-di rah cuckoo (cuckoo)
Hold-di-ra kiki, a oh!

After Easter comes sunny days
That will melt all the snow.
Then I’ll marry my maiden fair
We’ll be happy I know.

When I marry my maiden fair
What more can I desire?
But a home for her tending
And some wood for the fire.

Oh How Lovely

Oh how lovely is the evening, is the evening
When the bells are sweetly ringing sweetly ringing
Ding dong Ding dong Ding dong

O wie wohl ist mir am abend mir am abend
Wenn zuruck die Glocken laeuten Glocken laeuten
Bim bam, Bim bam, Bim bam

Can be sung in parts as a round

Mr Moon

Mr Moon Mr Moon go back to your bed
The sun is still in the sky
Go back to your bed and cover up your head
And wait till the night draws nigh

Twas on a summer’s evening
We walked the whole night through
When suddenly we heard it
The gentle soft cuckoo

Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo,

Can be sung as is or three people can have a different part and they can be sung together.

Mariah

Away out west they’ve got a name
For wind and rain and fire.
The rain is Tess, the fire is Joe,
And they call the wind Mariah.

Mariah blows the stars around
And sets the clouds to flying
Mariah makes the mountains sound,
Like folks are up there dyin’.

Mariah ... Mariah ... They call the wind Mariah.

Before I knew Mariah’s name,
And heard her wailin’ whinin;,
I had a girl and she had me,
And the sun was always shining.

And then one day I left my gal
I left her far behind me,
And now I’m lost, so doggone lost
Not even God can find me.

Mariah, Mariah, they call the wind Mariah.

Away out west they have a name,
For wind and rain and fire.
But when you’re lost and all alone,
Where there ain’t no name for lonely.

For I’m a lost and lonely man,
Without a star to guide me,
Mariah, blow my love to me,
For I need here beside me.

Mariah, Mariah, they call the wind Mariah.

Home on the Range

Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam
And the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

How often at night when the heavens are bright
With the light from the glittering stars
Have I stood there amazed and asked as I gazed
If their glory exceeds that of ours

Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

Where the air is so pure, the zephyrs so free
The breezes so balmy and light
That I would not exchange my home on the range
For all of the cities so bright

Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

Oh, I love those wild flow'rs in this dear land of ours
The curlew, I love to hear scream
And I love the white rocks and the antelope flocks
That graze on the mountaintops green

Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

I know a place

I know a place where no one ever goes
There’s peace and quiet beauty and repose
It’s hidden in the valley beside a mountain stream
And lying there beside it I find that I can dream
Only of things of beauty to the eyes;
Snow-capped mountains rising to the sky.
Now I know that God made this place for me

I can’t imagine myself as in a dream
Climbing a mountain by a small ravine
The beauty of this peace and quiet always shall remain
And every place a heaven each and every day
Oh how I wish I never had to leave
All my life such Beauty to receive
Now I know that God had made this place for me,
Of yes, for me.

From Charlotte's Web

How very special are we
For just a moment to be
Part of life’s eternal rhyme
Howe very special are we
To have on our family tree
Mother Earth and Father Time

He turns the seasons around
And so she changes her gown
But they always look in their prime
They go on dancing their dance
Of everlasting romance
Mother Earth and Father Time

The summer larks return to sing
Oh what a gift they give
Then autumn days grow short and cold
Oh what a joy to live

How very special are we
For just a moment to be
Part of life’s eternal rhyme
Howe very special are we
To have on our family tree
Mother Earth and Father Time

The Happy Wanderer

Chorus:
Val-der-ri, val-der-ra
Val-der-ri, val-der-ra ra ra ra ra ra
Val-der-ri, val-der-ra (the last line of the verse)

1. I love to go a-wandering along the mountain track
And as I go, I love to sing with my knapsack on my back

2. I love to wander by the stream that dances in the sun
So joyously it calls to me come join my happy song

3. I wave my hat to all I meet and they wave back at me
And blackbirds call so loud and clear from every greenwood tree

4. High overhead, the skylarks wing, they never rest at home.
But just like me, they love to sing, as o'er the world we roam.

5. Oh, may I go a-wandering until the day I die
And may I always laugh and sing beneath God's clear blue sky

It's time

It’s time for us to make our dreams come true
A guiding voice will tell us what to do
It’s the time to change ourselves and show the world
That we will care for me and we’ll lead them there

We’ll lead them to a place beyond the sea
A place of love where everyone is free
Don’t despair the path to happiness is wide
If we much change our ways call on God for our guide

March Songs of Nature

As I was walking on the beach one bright and sunny day,
I saw a great big wooden box floating in the bay.
I pulled it in, opened it up and much to my surprise,
I discovered a X...XX right before my eyes!
Oh! I discovered a X...XX right before my eyes!

I picked it up and ran to town as happy as a king,
And took it to a guy I knew who would buy most anything.
This is what he hollered at me as I walked into the shop...
Get out of here with that X...XX before I call a cop!
Oh! Get out of here with that X...XX before I call a cop!

I got right up and turned around running for my life.
Then I took it home with me to show it to my wife.
This is what she screamed at me as I walked into the door...
Get out of here with that X...XX and don't come back anymore!
Oh! Get out of here with that X...XX and don't come back anymore!

I wandered all around the town until I chanced to meet
A hobo who was asking for a handout on the street.
He said he'd take most any old thing. He was a desperate man.
But when I showed him the X...XX he turned around and ran!
Oh! When I showed him the X...XX he turned around and ran!

The moral of the story is: if you're ever on the beach
And you should find a wooden box and it's within your reach.
Don't ever open it up my friend, that's my advice to you.
You'll never get rid of that X...XX no matter what you do!
Oh! You'll never get rid of that X...XX no matter what you do!

I wandered on for many years a victim of my fate
Until one day I came upon St. Peter at the gate
And when I tried to take it inside he told me where to go
Get out of here with that ! ! !, and take it down below
Oh get out of here with that ! ! !, and take it down below
